The Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah has dramatically improved its missile capabilities and can now pinpoint targets anywhere in Israel, a senior commander of Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard said on Saturday. General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the head of the Guard’s aerospace division, said Israelis would see Hezbollah’s new might should a war break out. The comments were posted on the Guard’s website.
“Hezbollah’s capability has improved so tremendously in recent years that it can hit and destroy any target in the occupied lands with very little inaccuracy and pinpoint ability,” said Ali Hajizadeh. he also praised slain Hezbollah commander Hassan al-Laqis for helping to boost the terror group’s military strength. Al-Laqis was assassinated last month in southern Beirut, a blow to Hezbollah. Iran’s top Revolutionary Guard commanders, including its the chief of its Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, attended a service earlier this week in Tehran in commemoration of the al-Laqis.
According to recent reports, Hezbollah has been attempting to smuggle advanced Iranian and Russian-made missile technology into Lebanon from war-ravaged Syria piece-by-piece to avoid Israeli air strikes. Israel struck several military convoys headed to Lebanon in order to prevent Hezbollah from acquiring advanced missile and anti-missile technology.
