A German court last week found Martin Wiese, a German neo-Nazi, guilty of leading a terrorist group that thought of attacking the groundbreaking ceremony at Munich's new Jewish community center in November 2003. Wiese was sentenced to seven years in prison. The 29-year-old was the leader of the extreme-right group "Kameradschaft Süd", which had collected weapons and discussed how it could stop the groundbreaking ceremony, attended by Germany's president as well as other political and Jewish leaders. "There were no concrete plans" to attack the ceremony, Judge Bernd von Heintschel-Heinegg said in a lengthy explanation of the ruling he read in court. He noted, however, that the group had frequently discussed how the ceremony could be prevented and how to construct a bomb.
