The controversial politician and member of the Bundestag Martin Hohmann will give a speech on 3 October, the German National Day, on the subject of "patriotism". The event will take place in his constituency near Fulda, and has already sparked widespread protests. Hohmann was expelled by the CDU and its parliamentary group earlier this year for claiming in a speech on 3 October 2003 that Jews had to bear some blame for their role in the Bolshevik Revolution, and that the Jewish people could therefore be regarded as a "people of perpetrators" as well, not just as victim. A group of campaigners against anti-Semitism has already announced that it will stage a protest outside the hall where Hohmann will speak.
