A 16-year-old Danish girl who reportedly recently converted to Islam has been charged by prosecutors with planning a bomb attack against two schools, including a Jewish school in Copenhagen.
Prosecutors said charges she and a 24-year-old man, allegedly a former fighter in Syria, had obtained chemicals and tried to produce explosives with the intent to commit terror attacks against two schools. Police thwarted their plans by arresting them, the prosecutor said.
The suspects, who were not identified, deny the charges. They are both in custody pending the opening of their trial.
The targeted schools, the Carolineskolen Jewish day school in Copenhagen, and the Sydskolen public school in Farevejle, were informed of the plot by police.
Last year, a security guard was killed by a jihadist in Copenhagen outside the Danish capital's main synagogue.
