With just days to go before the re-run of the Ukrainian presidential elections, anti-Semitic graffiti in the city of Chernigov may be a political provocation aimed at discrediting presidential challenger Viktor Yushenko. Slogans reading “Kikes get out of here!” and “Yes, Yushenko!” were spray-painted over several buildings and the World War II memorial early this week. “I believe that it is an anti-Yuschenko provocation,” said Irina Lipkina, a Jewish leader in Chernigov. Gennady Udovenko, a leading member of the Ukrainian parliament, told the "Jewish Telegraphic Agency" that he agreed: “This is a dirty provocation”, said the head of the parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Ethnic Minorities.
