A 13-year-old Israeli girl, Hallel Yaffa Ariel, was stabbed to death in her bedroom in the West Bank settlement of Kiryat Arba near Hebron on Thursday by a Palestinian teenager. Hours later, a second terror attack was carried out in the coastal Israeli city of Netanya. Two people were wounded after being stabbed, and the assailant was shot dead at the scene.
In Kiryat Arba, the terrorist infiltrated the settlement before entering the girl's home, which is located next to a fence surrounding the settlement.
Ariel was taken to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where she died shortly after arriving, hospital officials said.
A security guard suffered multiple stab and gunshot wounds when he confronted the attacker and is in a critical condition.
The attacker, who the Palestinian health ministry identified as 19-year-old Mohammed Tarayreh from the nearby village of Bani Naim, was shot dead by other guards.
Thirty-four Israelis have now been killed in a wave of knife, gun and car-ramming attacks by Palestinians since October 2015.
