Prague – The WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps, under the leadership of WJC President Ronald S. Lauder, sent a delegation of 24 members from 16 countries to Prague last week to attend the World Jewish Congress Executive Committee meeting of senior Jewish community leaders from around the globe.
The WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps played an integral part in the WJC Executive Committee meeting, where the repercussions of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine on Jewish communities, the future of Jewish education and identity, and the continuing pernicious attempts to defame Israel as an “apartheid state” were at the top of the agenda.
At the gathering, members of the WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps, together with members of WJC NextGen, led a session focusing on empowering future leadership. During the session, members of the Executive Committee had a chance to learn about and discuss issues affecting young Jewish leadership, primarily antisemitism on universities campuses.
On the final day of the Executive Committee meeting, the Jewish Diplomatic Corps delegation conducted meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic with Special Envoy for Holocaust, Interfaith Dialogue and Freedom of Religion or Belief Robert Řehák; and Veronika Sternová, Counselor of the Ministry of the Interior to discuss the Czech government’s strategy to combat Jew hatred and foster Jewish life.
The series of diplomatic meetings also included the members of the MFA’s Diplomatic Academy, who are considered the future diplomats of the Czech Republic. The group discussed areas of cooperation between Czech diplomatic missions and Jewish communities worldwide.
The delegation ended its mission to Prague by conducting meetings with the embassies of Albania, France, Germany, Israel, Sweden, and the United States to the Czech Republic to discuss Jew hatred, issues of concern to the Jewish community, the threat of Iran, and more.

About the World Jewish Congress Executive Committee
The Executive Committee of the World Jewish Congress conducts the affairs of the WJC in accordance with the decisions of the Plenary Assembly and Governing Board. The body consists of the WJC President, Chairman of the WJC Governing Board, Treasurer, the Chair and Co-Chair of the Policy Council, the Chairmen of the WJC’s Regional Affiliates, and vice presidents (including, ex officio, the presidents of the 12 largest WJC-affiliated Jewish communities), as well as representatives of other Jewish communities, international Jewish organizations, and young adults. The committee meets semiannually.
