Alexander Bilinkis was born on 28 June 1968 in Kishinev. He is a Jewish leader, successful entrepreneur, public figure, and philanthropist.

In 1986, he entered the Leningrad Mining Institute. Mr. Bilinkis has been running private enterprises since 1992, with a focus on Moldova’s food and beverage industry, and bookselling, becoming a prominent businessman and investor.

He has been involved in the leadership of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova since 2005 and was unanimously re-elected as President for another mandate in November 2024.

A main and constant sponsor of the community, he has led numerous initiatives to preserve Jewish heritage, including restoring synagogues, Holocaust memorials, opening a museum of Jewish history. Significant efforts have been devoted to the ongoing development of bilateral relations with the State of Israel. These efforts culminated in the official opening of the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Republic of Moldova in 2025.

Since 2017, he has served as Vice President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

Mr. Bilinkis is also a board member of the ALT Foundation, a philanthropic initiative supporting the preservation and promotion of Moldova’s national cultural heritage, education, sports and environmental programs.

His civic contributions have been marked by several national awards granted by the leadership of the country. Lately, he was awarded the Order of the Republic, Moldova’s highest state honor. At the international level, his achievements have been recognized with prestigious awards, such as the ones offered by the official representatives of the State of Israel, American Jewish Committee and other strategic partners.

Mr Bilinkis has been the honorary consul of the United Mexican States in the Republic of Moldova since 2013. He is married and has three children.
