EUJS, in partnership with WJC NextGen, recently initiated a remarkable two-day seminar to mark the 80th anniversary of the Izieu Roundup. The seminar commenced in France, where 30 attendees, including Lauder Fellows: Hanna Veiler, Hannah Sarkin, Natacha Hubelé, and Emma Günsberger, were privileged to hear from Baroness Regina Sluszny. As a hidden child during the Holocaust, Baroness Sluszny offered invaluable insights into her experiences, her life’s work, and underscored the critical importance of Holocaust remembrance today.
Participants visited the memorial and museum, where they delved deeper into the historical context and personal stories of the roundup. Back in Lyon, the group embarked on a Jewish cultural tour, visiting key sites that highlight the city's rich Jewish heritage. The seminar concluded with a visit to the local synagogue and a session on learning about contemporary Jewish life.
