The life of Yiddish actress Bertha Kalich

Born in modern-day Lviv, Kalich was such a successful actress that even antisemitic theatre-goers threw flowers on stage in appreciation of her performances. She is known as one of the greatest actresses of the Golden Age of American Yiddish theatre and was the actress to transition from performing in Yiddish to English.
