NEW YORK – The World Jewish Congress on Thursday welcomed the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s unilateral approval of the Taylor Force Act, and encouraged lawmakers to show the same bipartisan support when the act is brought to the Senate floor later this month.
“The Senate Foreign Relations Committee took a welcome and an important step today in advancing the Taylor Force Act, to condition US aid to the Palestinian Authority on its ceasing to pay salaries to terrorists convicted of murder.
“This is a crucial piece of legislation which could set a precedent for the entire world in insisting that humanitarian aid must be used for humanitarian purposes, and not to encourage terrorism.
“The Palestinian Authority currently spends more than $300 million in foreign aid money annually on monthly salaries to terrorists and their families. This incentive to commit acts of terrorism against innocent civilians, including tourists, must be stopped.”
The World Jewish Congress has opened a call to action for US residents to encourage their Senators to vote in favor of the act. To join the action, follow this link: http://www.worldjewishcongress.org/en/taylorforce
