On 19 September 2011, the World Jewish Congress co-hosted a conference entitled 'The Rights of Israel as a Nation-State of the Jewish People in International Diplomacy'. Fifty-five Jewish lawmakers from 22 countries gathered in Jerusalem in June 2011 for the International Consultation of Jewish Parliamentarians. The meeting focused on developing common strategies to combat anti-Semitism and the assault on Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people. In a hearing in the Knesset, moderated by outgoing ICJP Chairman Gary Ackerman from the United States, numerous parliamentarians spoke about the growing challenges felt by politicians across the world.

As part of the WJC's Strategic Review process, begun in May 2008, a Strategic Planning Session was held in Brussels on 27/28 April 2010 to discuss what actions the World Jewish Congress will take in the coming months and years. The members of the WJC Executive, professional staff, members of the World Jewish Diplomatic Corps and a few outside experts, discussed actions in the WJC’s priority areas, in particular how to fight the delegitimization campaign against Israel.
As part of the WJC's ongoing Strategic Review process, begun in May 2008, a Strategic Forum meeting was held in Jerusalem on 19 October 2009. Outside experts were invited to brief the members of the Executive on the issues that have been identified as the priority areas for the WJC in the months and years ahead: the threat posed by Ahmadinejad's Iran, the growing global phenomenon of the delegitimisation of Israel, anti-Semitism worldwide, developments in inter-faith relations, seeking justice for Jews from Arab lands, and the threat of terrorism to Jewish communities around the world.

Several senior Israeli leaders spoke to delegates. At the opening of the gathering, President Shimon Peres said that Israel had the right to defend itself against thousands of rockets launched by Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip. “Instead of investing in the future of the Palestinian people, Hamas is buying arms to fight against Israel.” He reaffirmed that his country was ready to sign a peace deal with the Palestinians, but only on condition that their leaders renounce violence.
In a show of solidarity with the people of southern Israel living under threat from missile attacks from the Gaza Strip, the Governing Board of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) met on Wednesday in the Israeli coastal town of Ashkelon.
