The World Jewish Congress welcomes the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Chad, following Chadian President Idriss Deby’s official trip to the State of Israel two months ago. The two leaders formally announced the renewal of diplomatic ties between their countries, after 47 years.
“On behalf of the World Jewish Congress and our affiliated communities around the world, I warmly welcome the reinstatement of ties between Chad and Israel, and congratulate both on the successful diplomatic efforts,” said WJC CEO and Executive Vice President Robert Singer. “Israel’s outreach in recent years to improve relations with African nations, including Muslim-majority countries, is a positive development for all involved, and will have great impact on a variety of fields, from technology to security. The World Jewish Congress has actively pressed for the reinstatement of ties between Israel and Chad, including in talks last year in Geneva and Paris, and we see great potential for collaboration and cooperation in this important bilateral relationship that can benefit the entire Jewish world.”
