The Jewish Synagogue in Oslo has re-opened after an extensive renovation and expansion. The opening was attended by the Norwegian Prime Minister, Kjell Magne Bondevik, along with other cabinet ministers and leading politicians. Prime Minister Bondevik thanked the Jews for their contribution to society, underlining that the Jewish minority shall have Norway's respect and protection. "There is an inconceivable distance between the joy we share in this festival hall, and the sorrow which we shared during a visit at the Holocaust Museum in Israel", Mr, Bondevik said. "May such atrocities never happen again. Injustice must be stopped. Injustice must be righted. And injustice must be prevented". The leader of the Mosaic Society, Rolf Kirschner, thanked Bondevik and the Norwegian Government for having led the fight against anti-Semitism.
