Pupils are returning to the United Talmud Torahs school in Montreal where new security measures have been put in place, following an arson attack that completely destroyed the school's library in April. No-one was injured, but books and computers were destroyed and the library's walls damaged. An anti-Semitic note taped to the school claimed the attack was in retaliation for Israel's killing of Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. The incident was followed by a number of other anti-Semitic attacks in the city and also in Toronto. The school reopened two weeks later and security guards were put in place. Millions of dollars have since been spent in security upgrades at local Jewish institutions. The school's library is still being repaired and won't be ready until November. Three people have been charged in connection with the firebombing, all of whom have pleaded not guilty.
