Just weeks after her June visit, pop superstar Mariah Carey has announced an August 18 performance in the Rishon Lezion Live Park Amphitheater. “Shalom Israel, I will be coming to see you live on August 18, so come to see me! Shalom,” said Carey in a special message to her Israeli fans.
Carey’s June visit was her first trip to Israel, made with beau James Packer, an Australian businessman and friend of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who reportedly recently bought a home in Tel Aviv.
The concert is not part of a worldwide tour as Carey is currently in residence at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace. “She was excited about Israel and was happy to come and perform here, and we were able to meet her and arrange this,” says the organizer of the concert, quoted by The Times of Israel.
The tickets are cheaper than usual, starting at NIS 249, for an international star in order to “really allow all of the State of Israel to come to the concert,” the organizers say. “A lot of Israelis are crazy about her and this allows them to see her.”
