Several acts of vandalism involving swastikas spray-painted at various Jewish sites in Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods happened from Sunday to Monday night in New York City. Ten white swastikas were sprayed on synagogues, Jewish centers and schools overnight. Two were also found on police vehicles. About a dozen locations, including several synagogues, were targeted. Police have arrested a 49-year-old woman. She is believed to be responsible for at least 20 incidents, as the Nazi symbols all resemble one another. In many cases, the suspect spray-painted messages on the buildings and on the car of her ex-husband, impugning his sexual prowess, police sources said. The woman is a member of the Russian Orthodox community. Her ex-husband recently married a Jewish woman.
