TEL AVIV – The Executive Board of the World Jewish Congress’ Israeli branch on Sunday unanimously elected Gad Ariely, director general of the Israel Export Institute and former director general of the Likud party, as its chairman. Ariely replaces outgoing WJC-Israel Executive Board Chairman Shai Hermesh, who stepped down after 11 years in the post.
Ariely, a longtime board member, thanked Hermesh for his many contributions to the organization and pledged to "work assiduously" to strengthen the international Jewish body's presence in Israel.
