After a controversial pro-Palestinian conference, Duke University in the US state of North Carolina is again making headlines. A columnist for its student newspaper 'The Chronicle' has denounced Jewish opposition to last weekend's Palestinian conference on campus, arguing that Jews use the Holocaust to rebut legitimate criticism. The column also called Jews "the most privileged 'minority' group in the country." The opinion piece went on saying that "what Jewish suffering along with exorbitant Jewish privilege in the United States amounts to is a stilted, one-dimensional conversation where Jews feel the overwhelming sense of entitlement not to be criticized or offended," he wrote. By Wednesday evening, more than 100 people had posted messages on The Chronicle's Web site, most of them critical of the column. Jewish campus organizations now want an investigation of the newspaper to see whether its editors are fit for their jobs.
