Protesters of the militant animal rights group PETA have started their notorious billboard campaign in the center of the Canadian capital Montreal. Presenting pictures meant to shock passers-by, they liken the killing of animals to eat them to the mass murder of Jews and others during World War II. The "exhibition" entitled "The Holocaust on your plate" had to be withdrawn in Germany and Britain because authorities deemed it an attack against the dignity of Shoah victims. In its campaign, PETA puts two photos together, showing the corpses of murdered Nazi victims next to a pile of the carcasses of slaughtered pigs. In Montreal, many passers-by expressed their disgust at such a comparison.
