NEW YORK - The World Jewish Congress and the Consulate General of Israel in New York are inviting college students from the Tri-State area to a constructive workshop on combating the delegitimization of Israel, on February 16. The workshop entitled ‘Know Your Rights’ will provide students with tangible tools and skills to stand up to anti-Semitic and anti-Israel attacks on their respective college campuses. The workshop will be led by Dr. Mark Goldfeder, Esq., a Senior Lecturer at Emory Law School, Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Law and Religion, Director of the Restoring Religious Freedom Project, and Special Counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice.
Over the last several years Goldfeder has handled multiple matters related to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement in a variety of contexts, has advised universities and businesses on BDS policies, and has written and lectured widely about the topic of BDS and the law, including leading sessions for attorneys, students, and faculty on how to handle BDS matters.
On February 9, the WJC and the Israeli Consulate will be hosting the Second Annual Campus Pitch Competition, in which the five student group finalists will present their initiatives to address Israel and Jewish issues on campus.The event will begin with a student and young professional happy hour, followed by a live pitch competition in which 5 student groups will propose their initiatives to address Israel and Jewish issues on campus. The judging panel will include global CEOs, entrepreneurs and social innovators who will choose a winning group to receive $5,000 in funding.
