During EUJS' SummerU in Malaga, Spain, WJC and WJC NextGen hosted a variety of sessions for union leaders during the 7-day conference.
Executive Vice-President of the World Jewish Congress, and founding father of SummerU sat down with union presidents and leaders, discussing local and regional challenges, how WJC can support local unions, and the importance of Unions getting involved in high-level actions. Maram was one of the Guest of Honors at the 40th Summer U Anniversary Gala, where he gave keynote remarks and joined outgoing EUJS President Avital Grinberg in celebrating Summer U’s birthday with a cake celebration. Maram and Director of WJC NextGen Yoni Hammerman also presented the Union Leader of the Year Award to Lauder Fellow Emma Gunsberger.
Yoni Hammerman, Director of WJC NextGen, held a closed, one-of-its kind session at Summer U titled Claiming Your Spot at the Table: A High Level Round Table with WJC NextGen. Hammerman brought together 20 student leaders from 13 countries for a discussion on the importance of having individual voices heard around a table, strengthening youth representation, and addressing the unique challenges of student leadership.
NextGen Manager Elizaveta Zaidman delivered a session titled Building Bridges: The secrets of global and personal Diplomacy where she discussed important skills on how to present yourself and hold yourself in diplomatic settings, including how to properly introduce yourself, posture, the art of the handshake, and more. The session combined theoretical knowledge with practice and left the participants with new skills and tools that they will be able to use for a more confident and assertive Jewish leadership.
