The JDA member and president of the European Union of Jewish Students was quoted in a Guardian article regarding the recent rise in antisemitism. Emma Hallali expressed deep concern over the alarming increase in hate speech, vandalism, harassment, and threats faced by Jewish communities across Europe since the conflict in Gaza escalated.
Emma highlighted the particular vulnerability of Jewish students, stating, “Jewish students on campuses are standing at the frontlines; they are the ones having to face the wave of antisemitic violence amid protests and encampments on campuses.” She criticized universities for failing to provide adequate protection, noting that some students are opting to leave campuses and work from home due to safety concerns.
