Sophie Goodman, a Next Gen Intern, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend AIPAC's Fall Political Student Leadership Summit (PSLS). Alongside students nationwide, Sophie explored AIPAC's creative work and deepened her understanding of the U.S.-Israel relationship. The summit offered a unique opportunity to engage with AIPAC lobbyists, forecast the 119th Congress, and participate in in-depth discussions on critical issues shaping this partnership.
On the final day, students put their knowledge into action by lobbying on Capitol Hill. Sophie had the honor of meeting with the offices of Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-9), Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-2), Senator Todd Young (R-IN), and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). These meaningful conversations underscored the bipartisan nature of U.S. support for Israel and the importance of continued advocacy.
Reflecting on the experience, Sophie expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with, learn from, and bring these lessons back to campus. The summit ensured that she and her peers were well-equipped to advocate for the U.S.-Israel relationship on and off their college campuses.
