Current Lauder Fellow, Gabrielle Guigui, helped plan a week long initiative to help the George Washington University campus commemorate October 7th.
On Sunday, October 6th, GW for Israel invited Ofri Avigdor Betset, an October 7 survivor, to share her chilling testimony to ensure that no one forgets the barbarism of that day. Ofri was eight months pregnant when Hamas terrorists attacked her home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza.
On Monday, October 7, GW for Israel hosted a community vigil to mark the one year anniversary of the October 7 massacre. The event features speeches from campus leaders including professors, student leaders of Jewish Greek life and more. During the event they adorned olive trees, the traditional symbol for peace, with the names of the 1,200+ victims murdered by Hamas.
From Monday, October 7 to Wednesday October 9, students tabled in the center of campus to educate their peers on October 7 and raise awareness for the hostages.
GW for Israel also launched a Wear Yellow Campaign to encourage students to wear yellow to classes on October 7th in honor of the hostages and victims of October 7, 2023.
