Yoni Hammerman, Director of NextGen, had the the opportunity to meet with the fellows of the Elio Toaff Fellowship (ETF) this past Monday. Run by the Jewish community (UCEI) and Jewish student union in Italy (UGEI) ETF is working to create a national educational platform to inspire and empower young Jewish leaders. The fellowship targets 20 young adults (aged 20+), including students and professionals residing in Italy and active in the Jewish community. The program includes multiple online meetings, a day spent in the offices of a Jewish community, a 5-day trip to Israel, and two Shabbatons. Like NextGen, ETF recognizes the lack of young leaders in Jewish communities and is committed to fostering the next generation of young Jewish leaders.
During the meeting, Yoni shared insights into the development of NextGen and how individuals can build an idea into impactful, tangible projects and realities. Additionally, Yoni was joined by Mike Mendoza, director of JDC Junction, and Jonas Markowitz, Executive Director of EUJS (European Union of Jewish Students). Together, they addressed the importance of building partnerships and the many opportunities to get involved in international networks of young Jews.
Leading the program is David Fiorentini, a JD academy member. NextGen is incredibly proud of David and his continuous dedication to the Jewish community!
