Yael Sanchez, a Jewish Diplomatic Corps Academy member, organized an event for the Jewish youth of Madrid on October 7th under the banner of FEJJE, in collaboration with Olami and the local Jewish community. The Embassy of Israel in Spain and El Al sponsored the event.
The event featured a moving testimony from a Nova Festival survivor, Carmel Efron.
Later, Yael delivered a speech reflecting on the significance of October 7 and what Israel represents to our identity. They then held a four-candle commemoration, honoring soldiers, victims, the kidnapped, and the Jewish diaspora and their supporters.
The director of Tattooed4Life also joined the event to premiere her short documentary. The night concluded with a representative from the Madrid government, Pablo Gomez Tavira (vice-counselor for family, youth, and social affairs), and a special thank you from the president of the Jewish community, who expressed gratitude to the youth for organizing this meaningful gathering.
