Yad Vashem gives public access to information about three million Shoah victims

23 Nov 2004

Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust center has unveiled a website giving Internet users access to biographical information on three million Jews killed by Nazi Germany and its collaborators. It is the most comprehensive database of its kind. Yad Vashem's website digitizes the center's 50 years of work compiling information on Holocaust victims. The list can be accessed in both English and Hebrew at http://www.yadvashem.org. Yad Vashem says "This is the moral duty of the Jewish people, our last respects to the victims." The museum put some 1,500 people to work a decade ago, turning written testimony into digital information.
