NEW YORK -- The National Assembly of France passed legislation on Tuesday recognizing the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism by 154 votes in favor and 72 opposed. The definition encompasses various manifestations of antisemitism including applying blatant double standards to the State of Israel.
In response to the vote, World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder said, “The passage of IHRA definition by the French National Assembly is a crucial step in the fight against the age-old hatred of antisemitism. For too long too many have used the excuse that their obsessive criticism of Israel stands exclusive from their otherwise positive feelings for the Jewish people. Those days are now over.
“I stand with the Jewish community of France in commending this critical decision by the French government and encourage all other nations who have not yet done so to follow suit.”

NEW YORK - L'Assemblée nationale française a adopté mardi un projet de loi reconnaissant la définition opérationnelle de l’antisémitisme utilisée par L’Alliance internationale pour la mémoire de l’Holocauste (IHRA) par 154 voix pour et 72 voix contre. La définition englobe diverses manifestations d'antisémitisme, notamment l'application de deux poids, deux mesures flagrantes à l'État d'Israël.
En réponse au vote, le président du Congrès juif mondial, Ronald S. Lauder, a déclaré : « L’adoption de la définition de l'IHRA par l'Assemblée nationale française est une étape cruciale dans la lutte contre la haine ancestrale de l'antisémitisme. Pendant trop longtemps, trop nombreux sont ceux qui ont invoqué le prétexte que leurs critiques obsessionnelles à l'égard d'Israël sont exclusives de leurs sentiments par ailleurs positifs à l'égard du peuple juif. Cette époque est révolue.
« Je me tiens aux côtés de la communauté juive de France pour saluer cette décision importante du gouvernement français et encourage toutes les autres nations qui ne l'ont pas encore fait à faire de même. »
