NEW YORK – The World Jewish Congress will take part on Sunday in the 55th annual Celebrate Israel Parade, with a custom float adorned with the flags of the organization’s more than 100 affiliated communities around the world. The Holocaust Survivor Band, a klezmer ensemble led by survivor Saul Dreier, will accompany the WJC’s float as a symbol of the resilience of the Jewish people.

The Manhattan-based parade, the largest public event and celebration of Israel in the world, will coast up 5th Avenue from 57th to 74th Street, with some 40,000 marchers. The parade will be broadcast live on regional television with simultaneous feeds on YouTube and Facebook.

“The World Jewish Congress is incredibly proud to join this storied celebration together with thousands of supporters of Israel from across the New York area. For 55 years, this parade has showcased the love and commitment felt by American Jews for the State of Israel, and in an era of rising antisemitism and anti-Zionist sentiment, it is more important than ever to come together in solidarity and proudly declare that we will always stand by the Jewish State,” said Betty Ehrenberg, Executive Director of WJC North America.

All media interested in joining the WJC’s float, or interviewing a member of the WJC’s leadership and / or of the Holocaust Survivor Band is invited to contact WJC Director of Public Relations, Aliyana Traison (
