World Jewish Congress North America urges participation in No Fear: A Rally in Solidarity with the Jewish People

Prominent Jewish organizations from across the political spectrum, including the World Jewish Congress North America,  will hold a mass solidarity rally, under the banner “NO FEAR: A Rally in Solidarity with the Jewish People,” in Washington D.C. this Sunday, in response to the surge in antisemitic attacks and incidents across the country.

Ahead of rally on 11 July, Evelyn Sommer, Chair, WJC NA noted, “We have now been witnessing a horrifying surge in antisemitic attitudes, expressions, and even physical assaults. We are proud to stand with the diverse group of American Jews who will come to Washington DC on July 11, 2021 and stand up to the voices of hatred and bigotry. Antisemitism, which is also being fed by anti-Zionism as we saw only a month ago when Israel suffered barrages of rocket fire from Gaza, cannot be tolerated in North America, nor in any other place on the globe.”

Rabbi Joel H. Meyers, Chair, WJC US, said,” Jews everywhere, including in the United States, have the right to live in peace and security, without fear of discrimination or threat to their physical safety.  Political views or circumstances, whether in the Middle East or elsewhere, can never be used as excuses for antisemitism. It is time to speak out together, regardless of denomination or background, in solidarity against antisemitism. We hope you will gather will all others of good will on July 11th in Washington DC to loudly proclaim that antisemitism is unacceptable in our democracy.”

WJC also released a report outlining examples of antisemitism on social media and providing an overview of some of the most blatant antisemitic incidents and attacks.

The rally will feature remarks from Elisha Wiesel, Rabbi Jeffrey Myers of Tree of Life Synagogue, and actress and activist Noa Tishby, among others. For information about free bus options to the rally click here.
