NEW YORK – The World Jewish Congress welcomes the U.S. Congress’ legislation to upgrade to ambassador level the special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism at the State Department and calls for a swift appointment to the position.
“In upgrading the position of special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism, the U.S. House of Representatives has taken another praiseworthy step in demonstrating its dedication to the security of Jewish communities across the country,” WJC President Ronald S. Lauder said.
“Antisemitism is on the rise across the globe, including here in the United States. We must do everything in our power to ensure that our Jewish communities are able to live freely and securely, without threats of violence or attack,” Lauder said.
“The United States has always served as a world leader in the diligent fight against antisemitism, and it is critical that President Trump’s administration appoint as quickly as possible a dedicated and expert individual who will continue their efforts to protect the well-being of American Jewry. We look forward to working together with this individual on every possible level,” he said.
