WJC mourns the passing of Rona Ramon

The World Jewish Congress mourns the death of Rona Ramon, widow of late Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon and the mother of late IAF pilot Assaf Ramon, who passed away on Monday after a long battle with cancer.

Rona Ramon was a brave and courageous woman, who taught an entire nation how to gracefully and nobly contend with the greatest griefs. Following the great disasters that took the lives of her husband and child, Mrs. Ramon dedicated her own life to helping others live theirs – not only coping, but also rising from pain and sorrow.

Each member of the Ramon family has touched the hearts of the Israeli people and of Jews worldwide. We are indebted to this family and to the contributions they have made for the sake of our nation.
