On 19 September 2011, the Institute of the World Jewish Congress will co-host a conference entitled 'The Rights of Israel as a Nation-State of the Jewish People in International Diplomacy'. The even in Jerusalemt, organized together with the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, will examine the historical and legal rights of the Jewish people with the aim of countering the assaults to undermine Israel's legitimacy and to deny the Jewish people's right to self-determination.
The conference will launch the book by the same name edited by former Israeli ambassador to Canada Alan Baker, with contributions by Shlomo Avineri, Alan Dershowitz, Ruth Gavison, Martin Gilbert, Dore Gold, Ruth Lapidoth, Nicholas Rostow, and WJC Secretary General Dan Diker. The conference will take place on the eve of the Palestinian Authority's unilateral move at the United Nations.
