The Vatican has condemned sales of anti-Semitic Nazi films on the internet. The official Vatican newspaper 'L'Osservatore Romano' called sales of such material on Amazon.com and other sites "an unexpected boom, a sweeping success, that is spreading dangerously throughout Europe." Sales of films such as the notoriously anti-Semitic propaganda movies 'Jud Süss' and 'Der ewige Jude', produced by leading Nazi Germany directors, "are often disguised as a simple material of historical documentation," the newspaper wrote in an article last week, referring to a report by the German newspaper 'Die Welt.'

In April, Amazon.com – the biggest internet retailer – removed controversial "I love Hitler" T-shirts and Hitler Youth daggers emblazoned with the Nazi slogan "Blood and Honor" from its site, following protests by the World Jewish Congress. However, replicas of other Nazi memorabilia, continue to be sold via the Amazon.com site. Other retailers in the US also list anti-Semitic articles for sale.
