US Nazi Party announces rally for Yom Kippur

02 Sep 2004

The Minneapolis-based American Nazi Party will hold a rally at Valley Forge National Park in Pennsylvania on Yom Kippur, the highest Jewish holiday. A representative of the Park was quoted by the news website "NBC10.com" as saying that despite the controversy around the 25 September rally, the event would go ahead because Valley Forge was a place of freedom, and the issue was about freedom of speech and peaceful assembly. The Nazi Party, officially called "National Socialist Movement", a white supremacist, anti-Jewish organization -- opposes many things, including non-white immigration and the war in Iraq. About 300 supporters are expected to fill a field and amphitheater. Authorities have already announced that extra security will be on hand during the rally.
