Two men have been indicted for allegedly desecrating a Jewish cemetery in Portland, the capital of the US state of Oregon, in May 2003. Sean Andrew Sigley and Steven Hale Smith were both charged with hate crimes by the US Justice Department for the incident at the Congregation Shaarie Torah Cemetery, when swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti were painted in the Jewish sanctuary there. If convicted of the crime, the two face a maximum sentence of 11 years imprisonment.
