Swiss Jewish community launches legal action against far-right group for re-publishing Protocols of the Elders of Zion

The Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities (SIG-FSCI) has filed a legal complaint with the public prosecutor’s office of Bern Oberland against the far-right Swiss Nationalist Party (PNOS), which published the notoriously antisemitic text the Protocols of the Elders of Zion in their magazine. Originally published over a century ago, the incendiary text pushes conspiracy myths such as Jewish world domination

Explaining the decision to pursue legal action, SIG President Ralph Lewin said, “It is irritating and repulsive that the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are still being disseminated. Those behind this dissemination are deliberately stoking the myth of a global Jewish conspiracy. They must be brought to justice."

In a statement, the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities noted, “especially in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, conspiracy myths, including those with an antisemitic background, have once again gained popularity. The publication of the ‘Protocols’ encourages such conspiracy myths and promotes Jew-hatred. That these are the goals of the PNOS is shown by the preface to the hoax: ‘Whether real or fake, we don’t need to worry, because we are mainly concerned with the content.”

The PNOS was designated an extremist group in 2001 and has faced several legal suits in recent years.
