One killed, 14 wounded in another suspected terror attack in Jerusalem

One man has been killed and 14 others wounded in another terrorist attack at a light railway station in Jerusalem, according to a report by the 'Times of Israel'.

Israeli police earlier said an Arab man had rammed a car into a crowd on Wednesday. Police shot and killed the driver of the car.

Officials told the 'Associated Press' that the car hit the train platform, then rammed into other cars, after which the driver jumped out and tried to run away. The officials said the driver then attacked a group of policemen with a crowbar before he was shot and killed.

The Palestinian 'Ma’an' news agency identified the terrorist as 48-year-old Ibrahim al-Akary.

The incident was the second such attack in Jerusalem involving a car running over people in two weeks. Two weeks ago, a Palestinian driver drove his car into a crowd of people near another light railway station, killing two people, including a baby girl.

The attack came amid a backdrop of tension over a planned visit to a contested holy site in Jerusalem's Old City by supporters of the activist Yehuda Glick.

Glick, a leading voice in a campaign to expand Jewish prayer rights on the hilltop complex, was wounded a week ago when a Palestinian gunman on a motorcycle opened fire at him as he left a conference in Jerusalem.
