Neo-Nazis have been banned from holding a rally on Munich's main square Marienplatz, before the City Hall, in the center of Munich on the anniversary of the so-called "Reichskristallnacht" on 9 November. On Wednesday, the city’s administrative court confirmed the decision by local authorities to relegate the rally to an outlying district. A neo-Nazi leader had requested permission to hold a rally marking the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, which also occurred 9 November. But authorities decided this would be too close to the official ceremonies of the Jewish community, to take place at the Old City Hall in Marienplatz, where Nazi-orchestrated rioting against Jews and Jewish institutions began in 1938.
