Nancy Pelosi removed Iron Dome funding because of pressure from the "Squad." Thankfully, it has been reintroduced for a new vote today.

NEW YORK – World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder today issued the following statement regarding the upcoming Iron Dome vote:

“This week, we watched something we never imagined would happen in the halls of Congress. Nancy Pelosi and the leaders of the Democratic Party caved to the radical group of congressmen and women, who have consistently voted against support of Israel.

“The Speaker agreed to remove $1 billion for the funding of the Iron Dome defense shield that has protected Israel from Iran’s terror rockets in three wars.

“This was a reversal of the long-standing defense of the Jewish State that began with Harry Truman and has continued with every president and Congress since Israel’s creation in 1948.

“Does this mean that in all future votes in Congress regarding Israel, Nancy Pelosi must ask permission from the ‘Squad?’

“The silence of party leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer against this new, radical anti-Israel bloc is breathtaking. A separate bill has now been introduced that would reinstall this vital funding.

“At this moment in history, I call on Speaker Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Schumer and all good people in their party to do the right thing … pass the funding now and save civilian lives.”
