Montenegrin Jews host exhibition about Jewish connection to Holy Land

Montenegro's Jewish community is hosting the exhibition 'People, Book, Land', which deals with the Jewish people's connection to​ the Holy Land from Abraham until the modern State of Israel.

Shimon Samuels with Montenegro Jewish Community VP Jelena DjurovicIn the capital Podgorica, the exhibition, which was created by the late Israeli historian Robert Wistrich and first shown at UNESCO in Paris in 2014, benefitted from the support of Montenegro's Ministry of Culture. 

The exhibition presents an overview of Jewish life in the Middle East from Biblical times to the present through some 30 illustrated panels and texts.

The event was attended, amongst others, by Shimon Samuels, director for international relations of the Simon Wiesenthal Center which co-sponsored the original exhibition, by Ljiljana Toshkovich of the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and by the ambassadors of several countries, including the United States and Canada. 

The guests were welcomed by Jasha Alfandari, president of the Jewish Community of Montenegro, and his deputy, Jelena Djurovic.
