Latin American Jewish Congress director meets with Palestinian chief negotiator

Latin American Jewish Congress Director Claudio Epelman met on Thursday in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires with Saeb Erekat, secretary-general of the PLO and chief negotiator of the Palestinians in the peace talks with Israel.

The two men exchanged their views on the situation in the Middle East and the relations between Jewish and Palestinian communities in Latin America.

Epelman urged Israeli and Palestinian leaders "to persist with negotiations until a permanent agreement is reached that offers both sides peace and security."

After the meeting with Erekat, Epelman declared: "We agreed on the need to work together, here in Latin America, between Palestinian and Jewish communities, to strengthen dialogue and coexistence."
