A former Nazi guard, whose deportation from the United States was imminent, has died. Jakob “Jack” Reimer, who according to a recent court ruling participated in the persecution of Jews in Poland during World War II, died on 3 August at the age of 86. Reimer, who had lived in New York, previously was found to have lied about his wartime activities when he applied to enter the USA in 1951. The Justice department’s Office of Special Investigations and the Homeland Security department had launched deportation proceedings against him.
