The US Supreme Court has cleared the way for the deportation of a former Nazi concentration camp guard from St. Louis, Missouri. The court let stand an appeals court ruling from June this year which allowed the government to deport 83-year-old Michael Negele. Negele's attorney had argued that his client was very young when drafted into the service of the Nazis and was very ill now. US immigration laws allow deportation of anyone who assisted in Nazi acts of persecution, but Negele always claimed that he was not involved in any atrocities. US officials said that during World War II, Negele guarded civilian prisoners at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp near Berlin. He was allegedly a member of the 'SS Death's Head Battalion'.
