Fake Twitter accounts are impersonating Jews and promoting anti-Semitism

Antisemites target Jewish social media users: Following a post on the user-generated online messaging forum 4chan, fake Twitter accounts impersonating Jews and promoting antisemitic conspiracy theories have run rampant in recent weeks.

The author of the original post called on users to “create a massive movement of fake Jewish profiles on Facebook, Twitter etc.,” JTA reported.

The intended goal, according to the author, was to prevent social media companies from censoring their messages, in order to spread conspiracy theories about Jewish involvement in the slave trade, the global economy, mass media and the porn industry.

According to JTA, some of the accounts claimed to be affiliated with leftist Jewish organizations and individuals.

“#JewishRacism is alive, well, and very real. I am Jewish and see this same hatred towards European people from Jews every day,” read a Friday tweet by an account using the name “Simon Edelson.”

Under Twitter policy, “accounts portraying another person in a confusing or deceptive manner may be permanently suspended.”
A Twitter spokesperson said the social media site was aware of and looking into the profiles, JTA reported.
