European mental health service rescinds cancelation of Jerusalem event

18 Oct 2019

The European Network for Mental Health Service Evaluation – ENMESH has provided official notice that it will hold its planned 2021 conference in in Jerusalem, despite pressure by the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement to cancel.. The World Health Organization is actively involved in the planning of this conference.

The announcement comes after initial reports that ENMESH would be cancelling the conference due to pressure by the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions movement against Israel.

The Jewish community of Bulgaria, an affiliate of the World Jewish Congress, immediately issued a strong statement in support of the State of Israel and urging EMNESH to reconsider the decision. Shalom’s President Dr. Alexander Oscar held talks with Associate Professor Mihail Okoliyski, a public health expert who is an executive committee member of ENMESH and oversees the Bulgarian office of the World Health Organization, regarding the critical need for ENMESH to not to succumb to this pressure.
