Former US president Bill Clinton has joined the Democratic candidate for the presidency John Kerry for a second rally in two days. This time, the two went to Boca Raton, Florida, in an effort targeted at the 500,000 Jewish voters in the "Sunshine State". Clinton said that not only for America, but also for Israel, the past four years had been hard. He added: "I understand there is some level of concern in the American Jewish community to know that if we change presidents we will not change the level of our commitment to the security of Israel." But Clinton refrained from directly criticizing president George W. Bush's handling of the conflict in the Middle East. The ex-president also visited the B'nai Torah synagogue in Palm Beach county.
Meanwhile, Adam Hasner, chairman for Jewish outreach for the Bush campaign in Florida, said: "They (The Democrats) realize they're in trouble. We're making them defend votes that they've taken for granted for so many years." Bush's Jewish supporters say the incumbent president was the best candidate to lead the fight against international terrorists and to protect Israel and the United States.
