10 Mar 2005

The interior minister of the city state of Berlin, Ehrhart Körting, has outlawed to extreme right-wing groups, the "Kameradschaft Tor" and the "Berliner Alternative Süd-Ost". Police searched 10 apartments of members of these groups and seized propaganda material to incite hatred. Körting said that both groups included convicted criminals and thy had repeatedly made racist and anti-Semitic statements in public. The two groups would actively fight against the democratic system. He therefore called it "helpful" to dismantle the groups' organizations. Mainstream political parties in Berlin welcomed Körting's decisions.
