At Human Rights Council, WJC advocates for action against antisemitism and hate speech

Representatives of the World Jewish Congress took the floor of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva for its 45th session over the past two weeks to advocate strongly for human rights, prioritize the fight against antisemitism and hate speech, and call for the Council to abolish its biased and anti-Israel agenda item 7.

The WJC has been actively engaged for many years with the UN and its affiliated agencies, both in Geneva and New York, as well as several diplomatic missions, civil society organizations, and the Council. Since 2015, the World Jewish Congress has given approximately 100 statements at the UNHRC in Geneva.

The 46th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is scheduled to take place from 22 February 2021 to 19 March 2021.

Speaking at the United Nations Human Rights Council, WJC urged the Council to abolish its anti-Israel agenda item 7 and called on all states to promote peace and reconciliation in the Middle East.
